“Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.” I Samuel 17:45-46

In the tradition of today’s professional wrestling, David and Goliath exchanged some pretty forceful language before engaging in battle. “Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?” Goliath bellowed. “Come here,”he said, “and I’ll give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field!” (I Samuel 17:43-44, NIV)

However, David’s words quoted above were more than nasty name calling. He was rallying his faith. He was stirring up the gift of God within him and making confession of God’s power to deliver! He was prophesying his own future victory.

James 5:16b says: “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” The Greek word for “effectual” is “energeo,” here meaning “to pray with divine energy!” Do not just SPEAK words of faith…SING them, SHOUT them. Stir up the gift of faith. Take authority over that giant situation in your life NOW!

PRAY:  “Father, fill me with divine energy and the gift of faith so that I can ‘sing and shout the victory’ all around the camp. Amen.”
