Making God your Dwelling Place
· Psalm 91:1 (KJV) “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”
· (NIV) “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High, will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”
· Dwelleth (Heb: yashab) - to sit down; to dwell; to remain; to settle in; to possess a place and live therein.
· Psalm 91:9 (NIV) “If you make the Most High your dwelling – even the LORD, who is my refuge – then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.”
Jesus said, “Abide in Me” – remain, continue, dwell
· John 15:7 “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”
· vrs.5 “…brings forth much fruit”
· vrs.2 “…He prunes it...for more fruitfulness”
· vrs.7 “…ask what ye will, it shall be done”
· vrs.8 “Herein is my Father glorified…so shall ye be my disciples.”
· vrs.10 “…ye shall abide in my love…”
· vrs.11 “…your joy may be full…”
· To Dwell in the Secret Place, You must get close to God (to get under His Shadow)
How to Dwell in God
1. LOVE Him
· Psalm 91:14 “Because he loves me, says the LORD, I will rescue him…”
· I John 3:18 (AMP) “Little children, let us not love [merely] in theory or in speech but in deed and in truth (in practice and in sincerity.)”
· Matthew 25:40 “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”
2. SPEAK about Him
· Psalm 91:2 “I will say of the LORD…”
· 4 Things I will say: He is my refuge, He is my fortress, He is my God, In Him will I trust.
3. NAME Him
· Psalm 91:14 “I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.”
· Proverbs 18:10 “The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous run into it and are safe.”
4. CALL upon Him
· Psalm 91:15 “He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.”
· Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
· Jeremiah 33:1 “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”
God answers back (8 things God says He will do)
· Psalm 91:14 “Because he loves me, says the LORD, I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. (15) He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. (16) With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
· Psalms 91:9 “Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; (10) There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.”
· The closer you get to the light source, the bigger YOUR shadow…
· II Chronicles 20:15 “Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.”
