Learn to Pray with Thanksgiving – Say “Thank-you Jesus!”

  • II Timothy 3:1-2 “In the last days, perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy. (5) Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
  • Philippians 4:6 (NLT) “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done.  (7) If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand.  His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

5 SCRIPTURAL KEYS – Praying with Thanksgiving is…

  • Ephesians 5:20 “Giving thanks always, for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

  • Not based on what you HAVE or don’t have!

  • Jonah 2:9 “But I will sacrifice unto thee with voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed…”
  • God sent the Storm – Jonah rebellious, running from God, asleep in the boat
  • God sent the Fish – Then Jonah prayed…. “In my distress…”
  • God sent Revival – Jonah was angry, not grateful.
  • God sent the Vine, Worm, Scorching wind, & Sun – Jonah still had much to learn!
  • Psalm 50:14 (NIV) Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High, (15) And call

on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”

  1. How to Ask
  • Philippians 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
  • Find something to be Thankful for!
  • Count what you HAVE, not what you don’t have!
  • II Corinthians 1:20 (NIV) “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so, through Him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.”
  • The “Amen” is the “Thank you.”

  1. An Act of Faith
  • I Thessalonians 5:18 In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
  • Give thanks in ADVANCE of the answer from God!
    • In the midst of everything…
    • Luke 17:12 “And as He entered into a certain village there met Him ten men that were lepers, which stood

afar off. (All 10 were healed, but only one returned to give thanks) (19) And He said unto him Arise, go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole.

  • God blesses Faith that returns Thanks!
