A Vessel of Honor

Pastor Phil Derstine 6-22-25

We are Vessels – designed by the creator to be a container with a function.

  • II Corinthians 4:7 “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, (jars of clay) that the excellency of the power

may be of God, and not of us.”

  • I Corinthians 1:26 “For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many

mighty, not many noble, are called: (27) But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty. (29) That no flesh should glory in His presence.”

  • II Timothy 2:20 “But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of

earth: and some to honor and some to dishonor. (21) If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel unto honor, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.”

  • Honor: valued, precious, esteemed, weighty
  • Dishonor: common, ordinary
  • What kind of VESSEL are you?   How are you being USED by God?
