Fixing The “Faith Thing” – Part Two
If we can fix the “Faith Thing,” we can fix our lives.
“Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance, steadfastness, and patience.”
James 1:3 (AMPC)
Like Job – Trusting God
What Is Faith?
Faith: “Trusting God’s Word when you don’t understand or can’t figure it out.”
Scriptures | Prayer
Hebrews 11
Hebrews 11 – The Hall of Faith
Hebrews 11:1 – Faith in What We Don’t See
Hebrews 11:1 (AMPC) – Faith in what we don’t see
“Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things we hope for, being the proof of things we do not see and the conviction of their reality faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses.”
Hebrews 11:1 – Title Deed Emphasis
Hebrews 11:1 (AMPC) – Faith in what we don’t see
“Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things we hope for, being the proof of things I do not see and the conviction of their reality faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses.”
Faith Is Everything but Passive
Faith is everything but passive!
“Passive Faith agrees that Jesus sacrificed His life for all humanity. But it will not sacrifice its agenda, nor take a risk in being obedient to the Lord.”
The two sons
Matthew 21:28–32 (AMPC) – The Story of Two Sons
28 “What do you think? There was a man who had two sons. He came to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work today in the vineyard.’
29 And he answered, ‘I will not’; but afterward he changed his mind and went.”
(Jesus is in the temple being questioned by the chief priests and elders of the people.)
30 “Then the man came to the second and said the same thing. And he replied, ‘I will go, sir’; but he did not go (the wishy-washy son).
31 Which of the two did the will of the father?”
They replied, “The first one.”
Whether you’ve been serving the Lord for 3 weeks or more than 3 years, He only remembers your “YES” you finally followed through with.
He doesn’t remember 50 years of you saying “no.”
King David’s Passive-Aggressive Leadership
(2 Samuel 13–15)
King David’s passive-aggressive leadership – his two sons, Amnon and Absalom:
- Amnon violated Absalom’s sister.
- David was angry but did not punish Amnon.
- Absalom nursed his anger for 2 years and afterward arranged Amnon’s murder.
- David and Absalom never had a relationship, and later Absalom plotted to destroy David.
Active Faith
“Active Faith” is hearing and acting on the Word of God. It follows that one obeys His word and endures risk based on what God said.
James 2:17 – Deeds and Actions
James 2:17 (AMPC) – Deeds and actions
“So also faith, if it does not have works (deeds and actions of obedience to back it up), by itself is destitute of power (inoperative, dead).”
Active Faith endures risk…
“Active Faith is hearing and acting on the Word of God. It follows that one obeys His word and endures risk based on what God said.”
Hebrews 11:8 – Abraham’s Active Faith
Hebrews 11:8 (AMPC) – Active Faith, urged on by the Word
“Urged on by faith, Abraham, when he was called, obeyed and went forth to a place which he was destined to receive as an inheritance; and he went, although he did not know or trouble his mind about where he was to go.”
He did not trouble his mind.
Hebrews 11:31 – Rahab’s Faith
Hebrews 11:31 (AMPC) – Rahab the prostitute in the Hall of Fame of Faith
“Prompted by faith Rahab the prostitute was not destroyed along with those who refused to believe and obey, because she had received the spies in peace withoutenmity.”
“Rahab believed that Israel’s God was supreme, so much so that she risked her own life based on God’s promise.”
Take responsibility.
Responsibility and the Woman with the Issue of Blood
“The believer must take full responsibility for whether it comes to pass or not.”
Woman with the 12-year blood issue – 4,380 days.
Mark 5:27–28:
27 “When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment.
28 For she said, ‘If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.’”
Did they hear about her, or she about them?
Matthew 14:35–36 – All Who Touched Him Were Healed
35 “When the people recognized Jesus, the news of His arrival spread quickly throughout the whole area, and soon people were bringing all their sick to be healed.
36 They begged Him to let the sick touch at least the fringe of His robe, and all who touched Him were healed.”
“All – immediately.”
Mark 5:29:
29 “Immediately, the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction.”
“Your faith…”
Mark 5:34:
34 “And He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace and be healed of your affliction.’”
“Signs, miracles and wonders always follow those that believe.”
Acts 27 – Paul Before Caesar
Acts 27:23–26:
23 “For last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me,
24 and he said, ‘Don’t be afraid, Paul, for you will surely stand trial before Caesar! What’s more, God in His goodness has granted safety to everyone sailing with you.’
25 So take courage! For I believe God. It will be just as He said.
26 But we will be shipwrecked on an island.”
“What’s more, God in His goodness has granted safety to everyone sailing with you.”
“So take courage! For I believe God. It will be just as He said.”
“But we will be shipwrecked on an island.”
Job 22:28 – Decree a Thing
Job 22:28 (AMPC):
“You shall also decide and decree a thing, and it shall be established for you; and the light ofGod’s favor shall shine upon your ways.”
Faith Declarations
Today is a brand-new day for me, and I decree it’s mine!
Father God, bestow unto me an understanding mind and a hearing heart, in the precious name of Jesus!
“And I shall discern between good and evil, and what’s just and right! May this be the 1st desire of my heart!”
I decree: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, and You have anointed me!
And with this anointing, I shall go and announce release to the captives, recovery of sight to the spiritually blind, in Jesus’ Name!
Salvation comes to me! And I’m saved from everything! The free favors of God profusely abound!!!
Never again shall I be dominated by Satan, nor be burdened physically, nor mentally, nor weighed down or depressed!
As for me and my house, we are no more downtrodden, bruised, crushed, and broken down by calamity!
Because the King of Kings lives in me!
Therefore, I proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord!!!
