The Little Seed That Could

Pastor Joe Brown, Jr. 8-23-26

Matthew 9:37-38 “Then He said to His disciples, The harvest truly is plentiful, but

the laborers are few. Therefore, pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

  • God has called you to the field.  It just takes obedience.

I am a Product of someone’s Harvest

Mark 4:3-9 “Listen! Behold, a Sower went out to sow. 4 And it happened, as he sowed, that some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds [a]of the air came and devoured it. 5 Some fell on stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth. 6 But when the sun was up it was scorched, and because it had no root it withered away. 7 And some seed fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no [crop. 8 But other seed fell on good ground and yielded a crop that sprang up, increased and produced: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred. ” 9 And He said [c]to them, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

  • First, stop and marvel at the fact that Jesus is an amazing communicator.  He’s both entertaining and speaking facts at the same time.
  • The Disciples and the people around are in awe but have no idea of the meaning of the parable. In verse 10. It says when he was alone, they asked him about the meaning.
  • Have you ever been that student that acted like they know but didn’tand waited for everyone to leave to ask?

The Purpose of the Parables

Mark 4:13-20 13 “And He said to them, “Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables? 14 The Sower sows the word. (Jesus is the original Sower) 15 And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts.”

  • Devil doesn’t wait… to steal the purpose of the seed
  • Generation Diagram – We are no longer Gen Z, but We are Gen Beta.

16 “These likewise are the ones sown on stony ground who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with gladness; 17 and they have no root in themselves, and so endure only for a time. Afterward, when tribulation or persecution arises for the word’s sake, immediately they stumble.”

  • Crisis will show you your roots (May your roots be rooted in Christ)

18 “Now these are the ones sown among thorns; they are the ones who hear the word, 19 and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.”

    • A rose is so beautiful, but it is covered in thorns (Story: Dads roses)
  • Don’t let your seed be choked, destroying your harvest.
  • We live in a generation that the desires of the world choke the very fruit of the harvest.

20 “But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear theword, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”

  • A Seed that hears the word (The Gospel) and believes it will grow a great Harvest

Which Seed are You?

  • The Sower Jesus has planted you into a harvest so that the seeds of your harvest can be planted into another field for another generation.
  • The Little Engine that CouldYou are the little Seed That Could
  • Stop thinking that you can’t and just believe – Crisis can’t stop you, Thorns can’t choke you, the enemy can’t steal the destiny and Harvest that God has created you to be.  Planted for such a time as this!

Matthew 9:37-38 KJV 37 “Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

    • Before we pray for the laborers to reap the harvest, we must first ourselves be planted and become a harvest.
  • We must become a Revival
    • Revival Definition: A revival is the act of bringing something back to life, health, or popularity. It means a return to active use, strength, or interest after a period of being forgotten or weak.
