Pastor Phil Derstine 6-28-26
DEFINE THE WIN – 10 BIG THINGS for Winning in Life
- The Bible is like a Blueprint: it ensures communication among believers who are building a foundation of faith to stand on and weather every type of life’s storms.
- What are you filling your Life with? If you don’t put the BIG important things in first, they won’t fit later.
BUILD GOD FIRST (Your Foundation) – Relationship with God, God’s Word, Prayer
- Matthew 22:37 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. (38) This is the first and greatest commandment. (39) And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ (40) All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
BUILD STRONG RELATIONSHIPS – Family, Friends
- Build A Strong Family – Our first ministry is at home
Joshua 24:15 “Choose you this day whom ye will serve… but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
- Joshua didn’t just lead Israel – He led his household
- Joshua intentionally choose the Lord
Hebrews 11:7 “By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family.”
- Noah’s faith influenced his family
- Build Your “Spiritual” Ark
II Timothy 1:5 “I am reminded your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice
and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.”
- Timothy’s grandmother and mother passed genuine faith to the next generation.
- Parents and grandparents can shape spiritual legacies.
I Samuel 2:12 “Now the sons of Eli were scoundrels who had no respect for the LORD or for their duties as priests.”
- Eli loved God… but failed to discipline his sons.
- Love without leadership can produce disaster.
- Build Godly Friendships – Show me your friends and I’ll show you your future
- Proverbs 13:20 (NIV) “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.”
I Samuel 23:16 (NIV) “Jonathan went to find David and encouraged him to stay strong in his faith in God.”
- Real friends don’t pull you away from God – They push you toward Him.
Ruth 1:16 (NIV) “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.”
- Strong relationships are built on commitment – not convenience
- Jesus intentionally invested in relationships (His 12 Disciples)
- Discipleship happens in relationships
- Strong relationships are built through humble service (Jesus washed His disciples feet)
Matthew 13:11“The greatest among you will be your servant.”
Hebrews 10:24-25 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
- Build your FAMILY. Build godly FRIENDSHIPS – and you’ll build a life that lasts!
