BUILD WITH DISCIPLINE

  1. Health
  2. Work

Discipline Rewards Health

    • I Corinthians 6:19-20 – Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit
    • Good Health is a matter of Stewardship
    • I Corinthians 9:27 (TLB) “Like an athlete I punish my body, treating it roughly, training it to do what it should, not what it wants to.”
  • Daniel & His Friends – choose discipline instead of compromise. (Daniel 1:3-15)
  • God blessed Daniel with health, wisdom, clarity, and influence
  • Elijah was discouraged and fell asleep – God gave him rest, food, water (I Kings 19:5-6)
  • Sometimes spirituality includes physical restoration
  • Healthy Habits: Sabbath Rest, Exercise, Good nutrition, Emotional health.

Discipline Works as Unto the Lord

  • Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”
    • Genesis 2:15 “The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.”
  • God originally designed Work
  • Joseph – Served faithfully in Potiphar’s house, the prison, and the palace.
  • Ruth – Served faithfully in the fields.  Her diligence opened the door for God’s Blessing.
  • Faithfulness often creates opportunity
  • Matthew 25:21 “His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”
  • Work becomes Worship when it’s done for God’s glory

Discipline Requires Time Management

    • Ephesians 5:15-16 (NIV) “Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”
    • God gives Everyone the Same Amount of TIME – The difference is Stewardship (Management)
  • 168 hrs./week – 48 hrs. to work, 21 hours to eat, 56 hrs. to sleep, 3 hrs. to go to church = 40 hrs. left to Manage.
  • 24 hrs./day – 8 hrs. to work, 8 hrs. to sleep, 3 hrs. to eat = 5 hrs. left to Manage
  • 5 Hr. Daily Mgt. Plan – 1. Prayer (Fellowship with God) 2. Planning (Scheduling, organizing) 3. People (Family, friends, others) 4. Paper (Information, bills, letters, files) 5. Playing (Rest, recreation, vacation).
  • The Key to Success is in Your Daily Routine Small Disciplines today become great Victories tomorrow.
  • Nehemiah refused distractions: “I’m doing a great work and cannot come down.”
  • Purpose protected his Calendar
  • Mark 1:35 “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.”
  • Jesus never allowed Urgency to replace Priority
